We Are Looking for Passionate Folks to Post About & Create Nintendo Content

ninchars

Hey everyone! For many of you, this may be the first time you’ve ever been to or heard of Nintendo Prime. That’s because while this place has been “around” (on and offline) for most of this year, it isn’t really until right now (today) that I have decided to give it the same dedicated treatment other projects of mine, such as Zelda Informer, have gotten over the years. There is a stark reality when I decide to push forward a new project like this however – it’s that I can’t make it as great as I want it to be all by myself.

Nintendo Prime is a news, editorial, review, and fan site. What that means is that we cover Nintendo’s latest news (the stuff that matters), rumors (because those are always fun), amazing fan creations (fan’s make amazing stuff!), and naturally a bevy of original content. We already have the Nintendo Prime podcast (new episode will hopefully hit later today), but we’ll be doing original editorial work and hopefully other future video features, such as retrospectives. This is an upstart project, thus every single position here is volunteer. So, what are we hiring?

News Writers

These are the bread and butter of what we do here, as there is always news to post. Thus it’s nearly impossible for us to have enough news writers. The qualifications are simple – be able to put together coherent sentences and have a passion for covering the latest from Nintendo! That’s it. We do require that all staff members install discord and communicate with us daily on it. This is how we organize most things. We also take advantage of a private staff only google doc for additional organization, while we use wordpress for our backend (thus, experience with wordpress is a bonus!).

Editorial Writers

Do you have strong opinions on games coming to Nintendo platforms? Do you like analyzing Nintendo? Are you all up in that crazy theorizing realm of trying to fit every game with the word “mario” in it into a neat and tidy timeline? Our editorial writers are tasked with biweekly production of original written work of your own design. We don’t give you topics to write, so being creative and high detail oriented in your work is a must. This position requires a bit more than a news writer, and all of your work will get approved by myself before going public.

Video Content Creators

This position is newer to me across all things I run and organize online, but essentially you will need to be able to create and edit content for use on our YouTube channel. You can also try and convince me why you should do weekly streams as a public face for us on Twitch. Reality is, this is the most free position on the staff, as you are solely responsible for what you create. If you have an idea for creating something special, bring it to us! We’ll offer any help or feedback we can to make it awesome.

How to Apply

In the future, we’ll likely have a nice form to fill out. However, for now I’ll stick to the tried and true “email us” mantra. As such, you can send your volunteer application to [email protected] with the topic stating which position you’re applying for. The application itself should include your name, age, what relevant experience you have if any, why you want to put in your time here, and what excites you most about the future of Nintendo.

Hmm… not sure if I would have the time, seeing as I have college 4 days a week 9 till 5:15 GMT.
Also not sure if I’m actually interested or able to do these particular things.
Let’s see… news writer… I’m actually thinking about trying to skip certain news because of spoiler-y reasons. I miss my younger years of not seeing any info on games unless I actually searched for it.

Editorial writer? Those are those really REALLY long articles I’ve seen that cover various topics right? Not sure if I’d be able to. I did do a 6 page A4 article on the history of Zelda using Microsoft Publisher for my media lessons in my last college year and my teacher in those lessons was shocked and compared it to a dissertation! But I’m not sure if I could think up long articles again, it can take a while to think up the right topic to go for and also, my ‘history of Zelda’ article was more meant for people new to the series. Thinking of topics for general Nintendo fans would probably be a bit trickier.

Video content? I have a simple reason for not be able to do this: I don’t have a game capture card and I can’t think of anything else besides gameplay to do.

Question: Do people who sign up for any of these jobs get paid? 😛

    • It’s all volunteer, just like at Zelda Informer. Even more so, really. There are no paid positions at the site – including me for now. It’s a startup, it actually costs me money. :p already spent over $1000 on the place.

        Wow, that’s a lot.
Yeah… sorry, can’t really do it.

I would be incredibly interested in being an editorial writer! How do I get in contact?

  • MiniMytch

I’d love to edit the grammar and spelling. It’s not my forte, per sè, but I’m very good at it!

Any need for an editor now, or in the near future, just let me know.

I sent in an application to be an editorial writer. I’ve no experience actually doing it before, but I’d love to actually try it out. This whole site seems like it’ll be really cool!
