(Video Evidence) Switch Firmware 5.0 May Have Leaked With Cloud Saves, Themes, and Much More

This is one where yes folks, you are going to need to watch the video above. It contains video evidence of Switch firmware 5.0, which contains so many features people want it feels too good to be true. It’s also the most elaborate footage I have seen in a situation like this covering rumors and leaks over the years, lending some credence that the fakery of it all might just be too damn good to actually be fake. I’ll leave you with some words I put on this video in the comment section of youtube:

Real? Fake? Sound off!

Personal Notes: I have been around these Nintendo rumors and such going on nearly 20 years and I’ve seen my fair share of highly convincing fakery. This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve had video faked evidence and typically any sort of “off camera” footage like this is a hoax. However, there are a few cases where it also wasn’t, such as when the leaked art for Skyward Sword came out during E3 before the game was even announced. Someone took a very blurry cellphone pic in a back room and it turned out to be legit.

I chose to share this rumor because it’s a pretty elaborate hoax if it is one. It has all the right sound effects, all the right live action motion, and it very much looks and feels like the real deal.

The other red flags is the mario kart 8 deluxe stuff, which admittedly it’s hard to really know if that’s fake or not because with an update this big there could be many, many changes, including to how games are archived. The other red flag is that the YouTube logo is an older logo that hasn’t been in use for some time, and it would be weird if even in a testing situation that Nintendo would be using such an old logo.

It’s not impossible and maybe it’s a carryover of a YouTube asset they had on the WiiU, Wii, 3DS, or whatever, but still, it is what it is. Whatever the case may be, this is the most convincing video evidence for something like this I have ever seen, so much so I cannot definitively call this one fake. But I refuse to believe it either. Too much good stuff is happening here. Like, this is everything I wanted added to the OS in one fell swoop. That’s not very Nintendo like at all. BUT NEVER HAVE I WANTED SOMETHING TO BE REAL SO MUCH IN MY LIFE. Thus, I will hold out hope this one is the real deal.
