Switch Overview by Nintendo UK Suggests Voice Chat May be Possible Locally (Sans App)

What you’re looking at above is a diagram located over at Nintendo UK’s website that details the Nintendo Switch. One aspect of this is extremely interesting, because it unveils at least the potential for something that was thought of previously to only be available through a phone application. Specifically, it’s this description of the headphone jack:

“For connecting commercially available headpones, microphones, or headsets.”

This seems like a no brainer, but Nintendo has done nothing but doubt the necessity of a phone application for voice chat. Given Nintendo’s lack of proper voice chat in the past, it’s easy to see concern about the ability to do it locally. While this hardly confirms that it can be done – there is at least a way to hook up a proper headset. Baby steps.
