We still don’t know when Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video will be making it’s way to Nintendo Switch, but we now know that they will be coming. Previously all Nintendo has stated is they would not be there at launch, giving no indication if they planned for them to be coming to the system at all. Reggie Fils-Aime, however, has no clarified that those services will be coming and they are still in talks with those companies about Switch support (he mentions them as examples, but states they have a wide range of companies they are talking too). Here is the full statement:
“We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time,” said Fils-Aime. “In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.”
You can look at this as another reason Switch launched in an “incomplete” state, or simply realize that over time, the Switch is just going to keep getting better and better. Either way, I can’t wait to Switch and Chill… hopefully later this year.
