By now, everyone knows that Fortnite: Battle Royale is available on Nintendo Switch for free right now. However, everything isn’t so smooth as Sony is specifically blocking the universal nature of Fortnite accounts on Switch, meaning if you wanted to bring your progress over from PlayStation 4 to Switch, you can’t. This was discovered by Reddit user xXVenomHD who when trying to bring their PS4 account over to Switch, got the following response:
If you’re curious, this doesn’t happen when you bring over your account from any other platform, just PlayStation 4. This probably isn’t surprising to anyone who remembers how much Sony has taken a stand against cross platform play, trying to “protect the children”.
In more positive news, Fortnite on Switch has local voice chat. You heard that right, you will not need the Nintendo Online App to voice chat folks. Just a headset plugged into the headphone jack will suffice. It is not currently active, but it will be turned on tomorrow.
Lastly, Fortnite’s Save the World mode will not be coming to Switch anytime soon, as they have stated they have no current plans. Of course, this isn’t what put Fortnite on the map, so it’s hard to figure anyone will really care.
