[Poll] Are you Excited for the SNES Classic Edition? (Plus Everything We Know)

The SNES Classic was announced today. Watching the internet react to the announcement has been interesting. Let’s run down what we know about the system. So first up, there was a press release which you can read here, but here’s the important stuff.

  • It costs $79.99 and releases on September 29th
  • It comes with two controllers which have 5 foot cords, two feet longer than the NES Classic controllers
  • Like the NES Classic, the lineups are actually different per region, as is the overall console design. Here’s the differences shown in just the box art with each system’s lineup:

(Has the same lineup as North America, but doesn’t include an A/C power adapter.)

Here’s a few other details about the whole of this system:

  • Starfox 2 is unlocked by beating the first level of Star Fox (Star Fox 2 has never actually been released before, meaning that it’s actually a brand new SNES game released in 2017)
  • Pre-Orders were up in the UK earlier today (already sold out), but they have not gone up in North America yet. That being said, Best Buy and Amazon have place holder pages up with notifications for when you can pre-order. Sign up for a notification with Best Buy here, and then Amazon here.
  • Nintendo has promised that they will have more units available to purchase after learning from the NES Classic situation last year. They are also only promising to continue producing the console through the end of the year, no plans have been made to continue making them in 2018.

Here’s the poll then, with all that knowledge in hand:

Are you excited for the SNES Classic Edition?
