Pokémon Sun & Moon Sold 14.69 Million Units to Become Fastest Selling Game in Nintendo History

No, Pokémon Sun & Moon is not the best selling game in Nintendo history, let alone Pokemon history (though, it’s almost holding on to the #2 slot all by itself). However, for a single quarter it is now presently the fastest selling game in Nintendo history, well on pace to become the best selling Pokemon game ever. There is still a long ways to go and we don’t know when the game will show some slowdown in sales, but what we do know is that it’s flying off shelves at a record pace.

This data comes from Nintendo’s latest financial report, where they detailed out total sales for Pokemon Sun & Moon. NeoGAF has compiled a sales comparison chart to show where Pokemon games rank currently all time, which shows just how huge of a meteoric rise Sun & Moon truly are enjoying:

  • Green, Red & Blue: 31.38 million (Pre-Virtual Console)
  • Yellow: 14.64 million (Pre-Virtual Console)
  • Gold & Silver: 23.10 million
  • Crystal: 6.39 million
  • Ruby & Sapphire: 16.22 million
  • FireRed & LeafGreen: 11.82 million
  • Emerald: 7.06 million
  • Diamond & Pearl: 17.64 million
  • Platinum: 7.69 million
  • HeartGold & SoulSilver: 12.72 million
  • Black & White: 15.62 million
  • Black 2 & White 2: 8.52 million
  • X & Y: 16.06 million
  • Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire: 13.68 million
