Performance Analysis of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe & Splatoon 2 is Interesting

Let’s start with the good news, shall we? Mario Kart 8 Deluxe runs at full 1080p with a pristine locked 60fps, fixing a technical bug that existed in the original release on Wii U. Also, despite the Switch’s screen only being 720p, it uses a higher DPI than the PlayStation Vita, which makes games look absolutely pristine even at that lower resolution. In more good news, Splatoon 2 also runs at a silky smooth locked 60fps.

However, Splatoon 2 only runs at 720p even on TV Mode. It is important to note however that Splatoon 2 is much further off from release and this was just a demo, so the final product could easily find its way to the top tier resolution Switch can output. Overall, these are encouraging signs, though it’s likely neither game really pushes the system. For that, we may have to wait for Super Mario Odyssey or Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to get a better idea of overall system performance.
