Nintendo to Produce 30+ Million Switch Units in 2018 (Breaking Records)

According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is planning to produce 25 to 30 million Nintendo Switch units in fiscal year 2018/2019 and have informed their business partners of these plans. They also have stated that they may produce more than that depending on how sales go this holiday.

Interesting facts…

  • If they produce 30 million, that’s more units in a single year than any prior Nintendo home console ever
  • If they product 30 million, that’s roughly on par with the number of Nintendo DS’s they made in 2007/2008, which is the most units they have ever produced in a year for a single platform
  • If they can actually sell most of those units, we may have to start talking about Switch beating DS sales, rather than Wii.
