Nintendo’s amiibo have sold like gangbusters on store shelves, bringing in the cash and adorning gamers’ homes. There was little doubt they would carry on to the Nintendo NX, now called the Nintendo Switch. We now have confirmation from a Nintendo representative, who indicated to IGN that Nintendo Switch games will include amiibo support. This was already surmised, as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild uses quite a few amiibo, and will most likely sell more copies on the better system.
“If a Nintendo Switch game supports amiibo then the Nintendo Switch home gaming system will as well.” — Nintendo Representative
Notice how the representative described Nintendo Switch as a “home gaming system.” This shows how is Nintendo marketing the Nintendo Switch as a home console with portability, instead of a portable system with TV play.
