Darksider’s Warmastered Edition that originally released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016 has now released on Nintendo Switch and you might be curious how this version of the game stacks up compared to all of the rest. You may actually be pretty surprised by the results, as examined by Digital Foundry:
In short, the Switch version has two modes – performance or quality modes. In performance mode, the game runs at 60fps, but at a lower resolution – 800p in docked and 540p in handheld. Most of the game stays locked at 60 fps but there are combat sequences that frequently dip down to the low 50’s.
In Quality Mode, the game runs at 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld, but only at 30fps. However, the 30fps is completely locked and nearly impossible to make dip in any given situation in game. The game itself is also a bit more “washed out” color palet wise compared to the other versions, but is otherwise a very well put together port.
