Google Trends Shows that Switch Pre-Order Interest is Crushing Wii U, Bigger than Xbox One, & Comparable to PS4

We still don’t know how successful the Nintendo Switch is going to be (after all, it hasn’t even released yet), but we do have a very interesting metric that at least gives insight into the desirability of a system on day one. Google Trends is a nifty tool that lets you look up specific searches and how they trended over a period of time. When you compare searches for pre-ordering the last three home consoles released (Wii U, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4) to the current trending of Nintendo Switch, the Switch actually looks very promising.

Wii U is left in the dust by everyone, but interestingly enough the Switch has a pretty significant mark over the Xbox One as well. The PlayStation 4 is the undisputed king of trending in searches here, but the Switch itself isn’t that far behind, having a very comparable showing.

What does this mean? Well, not a whole lot, except for the fact that a lot of people are googling up a way to pre-order the Switch.
