An R-Rated Castlevania Animated Series Based on the Third Game is Heading to Netflix

Wait, did I really just type that title out? Indeed, Castlevania is heading to Netflix as a full on animated series that is not kid friendly. In fact, they are specifically calling it an R-Rated series based upon Castlevania 3. This comes directly from Netflix themselves, who have revealed that Season 1, Part 1, will be releasing at some point in 2017, with a second season planned for 2018.

Moreover, IGN got to speak with Producer Adi Shanka about the project, which is where the following was stated:

“This is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones. (Producer and writer) Warren Ellis added so much depth to the material. [The series is] going to be R-rated as f***. … this is going to be the best f*****g video game adaptation we’ve had to date.”

The show will be based upon Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. The Netflix description states, “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.”
