A Look at Breath of the Wild’s Trial of the Sword in Master Mode

We’ve seen some footage of Breath of the Wild‘s new DLC pack arriving later this month through Nintendo Treehouse, but they didn’t brave much of the Trial of the Sword in Master Mode, actually dying in their only attempt at it. Nintendo stopped by GameStop’s E3 stage to show off the DLC yesterday and this time, they played the game exclusively in Master Mode. In fact, I’d argue the person playing it was far more skilled at Breath of the Wild than the public facing presenters during the Treehouse Live segment.

Why? She successfully gets a chest off of a floating platform, clears camps with some ease, and took out two straight rooms in Trial of the Sword in Master Mode seemingly without breaking a sweat. That shouldn’t worry those hoping for a challenge – these are the early rooms that contain basically Blue Bokoblin (Red in Normal Mode). I think one interesting and often overlooked aspect of Master Mode is the fact that all enemies (so far) regenerate health, which adds a whole new layer of difficulty.

Personally, I never 100%ed Breath of the Wild specifically because because I knew this mode was coming and I really only plan to 100% the game one time, given how large this world is. I knew I wanted to achieve a true 100% (which includes some things that go past the percentage meter) in the hardest mode… just to say I did it.

I’ll be live streaming this mode the day of release, on June 30th, as I begin my quest to 100% Master Mode.
